Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” –John 14:6
In January we spent some time looking at the beginning of Jesus’ ministry. We looked at the statements He made to His first disciples “Come and See” and “Follow me, and I will make you fish for people.” We also recognized that those statements made so long ago still apply to us today. Jesus is still in the disciple making business. He still has something to show each of us, somewhere for us to follow. Sometimes it is easy to let life step in and consume our time and focus. We all have plenty of things to keep us busy at work, at home, at school, with children or friends or family.
That is why I love Jesus’ statement in John, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life…” Too often we let the way of the world dictate our actions, we let the “truth” of the world become our truth, we seek the life that the world tells us we should seek. My hope for all of us as we continue through this season of Epiphany is that we take time to seek out Jesus amongst all the noise in the world around us.
Take time each day and dedicate it to the Lord. Read the Scriptures, follow a devotional, sing, or pray, whatever it is that allows you to seek Jesus. Jesus is still calling to us, “Come and See” what I have in store for you…”Follow me, and I will make you fish for people.” Jesus is the way, Jesus is the truth, Jesus is the life…Let us make it so in our lives this and every day.
God Bless, Pastor Devin
