But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” –Hebrews 3:13
Who else is ready for it? We have had a few teases over the past month but they were just that teases. But now it seems that the weather is finally turning, Spring is here. I am sure I am not alone in my love for the Spring season. We see the wonders of nature come alive all around us. The birds return, the flowers, plants and trees start blooming, we can finally kick the kids out of the house and let them run around outside… it is a glorious time. But perhaps my favorite ‘Spring’ related occurrence is the celebration of Easter morning.
Of all the worship services held throughout the year it is without a doubt my favorite. The morning that we are reminded that Jesus loves us so much he went to the cross to die for our sins. The morning that we are reminded that death could not claim victory and that Jesus is alive. I find great encouragement in remembering Jesus’ gift to us. Perhaps that is why the verse above from Hebrews has stood out to me lately.
Now in full disclosure this verse is on one of Everett’s Scripture Memory Verse flash cards that he loves to read through at meal times. I cannot read the verse without hearing it in his voice. But along with hearing it in his voice I also hear it as a challenge. A reminder that we are all called to love, support and encourage one another, daily. It should be a part of who we are, a part of our everyday lives as followers of Jesus.
So while we do celebrate the awesome, encouraging reminder that Easter morning is I invite all of us to make it a regular, daily reminder, rather than a one off event. Jesus loves YOU, just the way you are, celebrate that this and every day.
God Bless,
Pastor Devin
